Bus Fight!

¡Hola Todos!

The work this week was pretty slow, not much to tell this week. But we are still going forward hopeful to find people that are prepared to accept this Gospel! I was asked to give a talk Saturday night for Sunday the next day. Apperently they didnt have any speakers. But it went well, suprisingly it was first talk I have given on my mission! You´d think I would talked more after nine months on the mission? But I was greatful to finally have the opportunity.
Not much us interesting happened this week other than an experience on Saturday. So we were waiting for a bus to go to the farthest part of our area. There is only one bus that goes over there and it only comes every 30 to 45 minutes. So we were waiting for about 30 minutes and finally it comes. But it passes us and another guy that was waiting! So we had to wait another 45 minutes for the same bus to come by. When it finally came by, he looked a little mad but just let us go on for free. Then about two stops later another guy gets on who is pretty mad that he didnt stop for him. Apparently the bus driver didnt stop for anyone, i dont know why but he didnt. Then the mad guy startes swearing and yelling at the bus driver for not stopping. The bus driver asks if he wants to fight about it and all of a sudden the bus driver gets up and they start fist fighting!. With the bus just in the middle of the road and us and everyone else on there! We all go back to the back of the bus as they are full on fighting! it was pretty intense. Finally someone with his kid says dude, I want to go to my house. So the bus driver says ok, ok for the people I will stop. So the guy that got mad just takes a seat and the bus driver drives on like nothing happened. It was crazy!

Miracle of the Week: So the miracle of the week is that Geronimo called us and said that his parents gave him a 100 percent permission to be baptized on the 14 of May! Wahoo! We are not really sure why still the change of heart from the parents, but we know it was a huge miracle!

Scripture of the Week: Alma 58..Its the classic story of the two thousand stripplings warriors. You should read it!

Investigator Progress Update:
Geronimo-Well Geronimo is super ready for his baptism and now that he can, we are all stoked. This Sunday, Geronimo´s little brother wanted to come with him to church, Tomi who is six, and like it a lot as well!
Rosa-We were able to talk with Rosa this week as well and brought a member with us, Sergio. We were able to have a very spiritual lesson with her. Right now she is going through a lot of hard times with her son, who is sick. But we were able to help her feel comforted.

I hope you all have a great week!

¡Hola Todos!

This past week was pretty good! We were able to have interviews with President and a few trainings on Friday. We are now focusing a lot on finding and working with all members who could potentially have family members that are not all members of the church. We have seen great success with that this week, finding a lot of part member families!
Anyways, the weather here has been rainy or cloudy nonstop. I think winter is finally arriving here!

New Investigator of the Week: Some of the new investigators that we were able to find this week are the parents of recent convert of almost two years that is less active now. We are not really sure why the parents never got baptized, probably because a lot of people dont like to change their way of beliefs. But they are really good people and we had a good spiritual lesson and we´re able to gain their confidence. The second visit got canceled but we are excited to see if they progress. First, we have to reactive the daughter!

Scripture of the Week: Alma 34:32, one that is pretty well known, but good to remember. That this life is a time to prepare and do!

Investigator Progress Update:
Geronimo- We were finally able to pass by Geronimo this last Saturday! He said that he now has permision to get baptized, but has to wait until he is fully healed. So he has to wait all the way until June! I was happy for him, and admittedly a little sad that it would be so long in the future, but we are happy he will eventually get baptized!
Rosa Gallardo-We were able to have a lesson with her this week. She seemed a little bit discouraged as she had gone for the third time to try and get married and they said she had to pick a date for one month in advance. It put her down a little and now she doesnt want to put as much effort or focus into it as she is dealing with other things right now. After we talked with her for a little bit, she seemed a little better. So we will continue helping her and trying to encourage her more to do it.
Tobias- When we went back to Tobias, his mom came out with him and didnt want her son to listen. We started talking to her and she didnt like to hear anything but what was in the Bible. At the end, she softened a little and agreed to meet with us.

I want to share more, but there isnt much that happened this week, other than that. I hope you all have a great week!!

¡Hola Todos!

Im doing great! The weather here is perfect right now so thats an added blessing. This week overall was pretty good. We werent able to have a ton of lessions, but the ones we had really counted and were good. I would rather have it that way anyways.

Miracle of the Week: I dont usually mention a lot about the other side of missionary work which is retention. So the miracle of the week has to do with this. So there are two younger guys that are friends in the ward that are inactive. One is married to a nonmember. We have been working with them so they can come back to church and also would be nice to baptize his wife;) Anyways, after a long time they both finally came to church yesterday! The first step towards many we hope!

Scripture of the Week: The scripture of the week would have to be in Alma...in this moment I forgot where it is...I think it is in chapter 23...But its about how the AntiNephiLehites buried their weapons in the Earth to not have the temptation to sin more and to commit themselves more to God. Every one of us has our "weapon of rebellion" in our lives that we NEED to bury whether you feel its justified or not. Could be something has small as the music we listen to or not doing our home teaching. I dont know haha. Whatever it is, i would encourage you all to bury it and recommit yourselves to the Lord in this.

New Investigator of the Week: So on Sunday, we clapped on a house looking for an inactive families house. A 17 year old guy came out. We started talking to him and turns out he is "atheist". We started talker more and he said later that maybe it was just hard for him to believe. We told him we could help him. He let us pass and we taught him the Restauration. Oh and his name is Tobias. The lesson went very well. He suprisling understood everything super clearly, how we need authority and prophets today, etc. When we asked if he would be baptized, which is crucial here as everyone says, "I already got baptized", he said the same thing but then thought for a minute and said oh wait it would have to be done with this permition thing. He then said if he knows from God that we have that he will get baptized. Super smart kid and a good spiritual lesson. We are very excited to see him again and see if he read and prayed to know. We have faith!

Investigator Progress Update: This week was a little bit difficult to get ahold of investigators and a few appointments fell with them including Rosa and Geronimo. But we were able to see Geronimo come to church by himself last Sunday and he was able to share his powerful testimony! He is so ready to be baptized already! We plan to talk to his parents this week, as they said that now he can be baptized in a month! Also, sadly, we had to drop Carlos after we brought a member to the lesson. It did not go well at all, and Carlos is very stuck in his ways and believes.

Love you all and have a great April week!

New Area New companion

¡Hola todos!

Wow, I hope everyone enjoyed conference! It was full of great truth, advice, counsel, and more. I was able to learn a lot and feel the Spirit so strong as always when the Prophet and other General Authorities speak. We had to travel for almost an hour to go to a chapel in the city of Moron to watch it. So we stayed there for the sessions on Saturday and then came back on Sunday. Since none of our investigators were able to come, we got to watch the Sundays sessions in English which was nice.
Anyways, a lot of changes happened this week! I was transfered to a new area with a new companion! I am now in the zone of Castelar in the area of Rivadavia. First, my companion is from San Diego, California and as a little under 6 months on the mission. Before the mission, he enjoyed photography and is a fun loving happy guy. Im excited to work with him more. The zone of Castelar is one of the richer zones in the mission with a lof of city and nice homes in the neighborhoods. Except for Rivadavia haha. Its a little bit more on the outerskirts and I think its on the border of the South mission. Its pretty comparable to my last area with a lot of dirt roads, but its little bit nicer. With nicer homes and more variety of stores. The apartment we live in is definitely a downgrade from my last house I was living in. Its a two story rectangle. Only a little bigger than the playhouse that is in the backyard of my house back home haha. But we fit in there nice as cozy and have all the necisities we need, everything is just old, but I adapted quickly. The ward here is made up of about 60 to 70 active members(I still havent met a lot because we didnt have church due to conference). But the members that I have member are really great. The work here in the past as been pretty slow, but will change quickly after this transfer:) Im very excited to be hear and to be able to start fresh again. I hope to work even harder and continually improving as I always want.
From now on I will be changing a little bit how I do the group emails, as I have gotten tired of the old way and have run out of things to say in a few of the categories. And I want to focus my emails more on the progress of my investigators and how the work is here and less about me.

Miracle of the Week: My miracle of the week story is a little bit different today than it normally will be but I wanted to share it anyways. So last Friday there was a good rainstorm all day long. During the night visibility was not very good. We had just got done teaching an investigator at about 8 oclock and started walking towards a less active families house. We then see a guy with a hood over his head walking towards us. I get a bad feeling and start walking in a different direction. He gets closer starts walking faster towards us and says come, give me bag! He gets about 2 feet away from us and then suddenly me and my comp step into a sanja and cross the other side. (a sanja is like a gutter here but way nastier with a ton of garbage and who knows what else.) Apparently he didnt want to follow us into that because we were able to lose him. It was quite the experience, I had a ton of adrenaline pumping, but we´re all good! Good thing as missionaries we only carry Books of Mormon and pamphlets anyways haha.

Scripture of the Week: I wanted to keep this category as I enjoy finding good scriptures to share with you all. Mosiah 3:13 is the scripture I liked a lot this week as it had to do a little bit with conference. Its really amazing and a blessing that we have the opportunity to listen to the words of the prophets testifying of Christ and as if Christ was actually speaking as well. Being able to hear present revelation that able to all of us.

New Investigator of the Week: For this category, I will share a story of a new investigator we found and how the lesson went. One new investigator that we were able to find this week was from a referral of somebody that Elder McDonald taught. His name is Carlos. At first, he didnt want to let us in saying he was mad. And then after a little bit of talking he let us in "to chat". So we go in and he starts talking to us about his problems and how he wants to change from all his bad habits and knows he can through God, but that he wont because he is not patient and wants to change ya, or now. And things like that. Eventually, he was softened enough to listen to the message of the Restauration. And it wasnt necesarrily that he took it bad. But had a few disagreements. But he agreed to read the Book of Mormon. It was a pretty difficult lesson to teach, but I feel like we did well for the circunstances that were there. I think what really helped him the most was that we showed we cared about him and we were there to help.

Investigator Progress Update: In this category, I will share about our investigators and their progress.
Right now we dont have a lot of investigators. But we are working right now with an investigator who is 14 years old who is awesome. He has come to church for the past month and wants to be baptized. He is very smart and mature for his age. I thought he was 17 or 18 when I first saw him and heard him. He is reading the Book of Mormon and was even able to watch conference at his home! The only challenge right now is the parents. At first, they didnt want him to be baptized, then they said he could in a year and now its two months. So we are seeing a lot of good progress with them and hope to see Geronimo a member soon!

Love you all, Happy April!
